Background
The first episode was confusing, if you do not pay attention to what they are talking about you'll be lost since it is an explanation of how things go in their world. I appreciated the fact that there has been an English dub for this anime, that I was able to listen and watch instead of reading. I can say that the first episode is important, boring as it may seem, it's practically a background check equally significant as the plot itself.
To sum it up in one word, it would be battle.
It involves the concept of Master & Servant in which the master summons their servant to be their ally in the war they are going to engage.
What made the servants interesting is that the author decided to link it to history. Servants such as Alexander the Great, Gilgamesh, and King Arthur. Of course they didn't come as purely historical, they were given a twist.
If you were not listening to your History class back in grade school or high school, believe it or not through this anime, you'll be curious hence, make you somewhat interested.
Fight Scenes
Encounters and battles are amazing. I find it interesting when they start to show off those fascinating skills. Timing of fights are great as well. It comes along with epic conversations that will make you take a side of your favorite servant.
Characters
My favorite servant is Rider. That chariot and his ultimate skill is just too good to be missed! Archer might be powerful since his range is wide, but I still root for Rider nonetheless *this thought is due to their fight*. I also found myself agreeing with Rider with his views haha.
If you would talk about the looks, a lot would probably go for Saber. She looks like Kurapica of Hunter X Hunter actually. Yes, she is a girl however they made her suit up, that makes me doubt my sexuality. J/K! Saber's ultimate skill is also fantastic. The moment he shouted "EXCALIBUR!" it brought chills onto me seriously.
Caster was pure evil. he has a different point of view along side with his master.
But really, right and wrong? It's going to be confusing when you watch this anime. If you let yourself think about it when characters start to converse about their ideals, you'll find yourself taking sides and then later on, re-thinking about whom you thought is right.
Characters were built to have strong personalities and people who won't easily be shattered by an opinion heard. Good as it may sound, they won't easily agree. They have formulated their own beliefs and they stand up to it.
Overall
All in all I say this is a good anime to watch. If you're up to some action don't miss this out!
Cheers!
